What We Do

The Five Units under the EICT are Tollygunge Homes, Lavinia House, The EICT Nursery, Mary Cooper Home and St Mary’s Hostel.

We are a Charitable Trust but we do not seek cheque-book charity from anyone; for us, and for many others like you, charity is a way of life, of benevolent giving and caring, of unlimited loving and sharing, of boundless compassion.

We have put up this Website to give you a glimpse of our activities, to share our hopes and aspirations. And to ask you to participate in our mission to bring a ray of hope and sunshine in the lives of those who are less fortunate than us.

Each and every one of you can contribute in so many ways, and in the process make your own life so much more meaningful and satisfying.

Thank you for visiting us. We do hope you will continue to help and guide us in our work and spread our message to others.

Charities We Manage

The East India Charitable Trust was formed at the instance of the then Calcutta Branch of the United Kingdom Citizens’ Association and was registered as a Charitable Society in 1949. The objective of forming the Trust was to absorb small charitable units and Institutions in Eastern India so as to form a cohesive whole, to minimize conflicting appeals for support and to strengthen administration and cooperation.

The five units under the EICT are Tollygunge Homes, Lavinia House, The EICT Nursery, Mary Cooper Home and St Mary’s Hostel.
