We humans want the best of both world; privacy and solitude as well as intimacy and socializing. The trick is to strike a fine balance between the two; but it is not always in our control, particularly as we age. The old cliché that it is possible to feel lonely in a crowd is also painfully true. For many people, the word lonely can conjure up an image of an isolated figure in an Old-age home. Yet being alone is not the same as being lonely.
May the coming season of joy bring a big smile of contentment on your faces, dear friends, no matter whether you are alone or in the company of your loved ones or friends.
