An Appeal

The Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Dormitories as well the Dining Hall of Tollygunge Homes haven’t seen a coat of fresh paint for many years due to paucity of funds. Thanks to the generosity of several caring individuals in India and Overseas, The East India Charitable Trust has managed to collect a sum of $3,500 (INR 200,000) with which we have started the work. However, there is still a shortfall of $5,500 (INR 300,000) to cover the total cost of the painting work.

Affection is not just goodwill or friendship, it is a rare state of the mind, of pure love.
Thank you "Young Indian" for bringing such a beautiful smile on the face of this elderly resident of Tollygunge Homes.

Independence Day 2012

Today, 15 August 2012, on our Independence Day, a large group of wonderful people from “Young Indians” visited Tollygunge Homes, spent time chatting and singing with the residents and later treated them to a sumptuous lunch. The glow and happiness on the faces of the old folks seemed to momentarily wash away all their sorrow and loneliness.

Things like a beautiful sunrise, a garden full of lovely flowers, heartfelt words of appreciation, sharing laughter, display of kindness & compassion...are not necessary for survival; but they make life so much more meaningful and enjoyable.
